About Polygonia satyrus Edwards

Polygonia satyrus, commonly known as the satyr comma, is a North American butterfly species that belongs to the nymphalid family. It is primarily distributed in western Canada, and it is locally common in this region. This species looks very similar to Polygonia comma, the eastern comma, and the two are frequently confused with one another. The caterpillars of Polygonia satyrus feed on Urtica gracilis, which is known as the American stinging nettle.
