About Polychrus liogaster Boulenger, 1908
This species, Polychrus liogaster, has an average body weight of 110.34 grams. Individuals have a blunt snout, with large, smooth scales covering the head. Scales on the neck are widened and larger than those on other parts of the body, while scales across the tail are mostly uniform in size. All ventral scales are smooth. There is no sexual dimorphism in body color for this species, and three distinct black lines radiate out from each eye. Polychrus liogaster is an arboreal, diurnal species. It is endemic to the western portion of the Amazon rainforest, where it occurs along the banks and tributaries of the Juruá River, Purus River, Guaporé River, and Madeira River. Confirmed populations have been documented in La Convención and Bajo Puyantimarí in Peru; in Marbán, Ichilo, and Santa Cruz in Bolivia; and in the Brazilian states of Amazonas, Acre, Mato Grosso, and Rondônia.
