About Polycera atra MacFarland, 1905

This species of polycerid nudibranch, Polycera atra, has a translucent white body marked with longitudinal black lines. Between these black lines are rows of raised yellow spots. Its oral veil bears 4 to 8 tapering papillae that end in yellow tips. Polycera atra was first described from specimens found in California. In its ecosystem, this nudibranch feeds on the bryozoan Bugula.
