Polybia ignobilis is a wasp species that belongs to the Vespidae family. This species is a medium-sized wasp with an entirely black body, with the exception that the back portion of its wings is lighter in color than the front portion of the wings. The wasp forms many large colonies inside cavities located in tree trunks, house foundations, stone fences, and similar structures. It is distributed across South America. It is recorded occasionally pollinating the flower Distimake aegyptius.
