Scientific name: Polititapes aureus (Gmelin, 1791)

Description: Members of this species have moderately convex valves. Valves most often appear pale yellow, white, or chestnut, with broken zigzag lines or dark chestnut patches. However, valves can also be consistently golden yellow, which is the trait that gives this species its specific name. The shell sculpture consists only of moderately impressed concentric growth lines.
