Polistes olivaceus, first described by De Geer in 1773, is a species of paper wasp. It is commonly called the yellow oriental paper wasp or Macao paper wasp. In the Cook Islands, English speakers there refer to it simply as the yellow paper wasp, and its Cook Island Maori name is "Rango Patia", with other name variations used on different islands. This species is native to India and East Asia. It has also been introduced to East Africa, and Pacific island nations including the Marquesas Islands, Easter Island, Hawaii, the Seychelles, and the Cook Islands in the South Pacific.
