About Polinices mammilla (Linnaeus, 1758)

This species, scientifically known as Polinices mammilla (Linnaeus, 1758), has pure white shells that are rather elongated in shape, growing up to 4 centimeters in size. Its operculum is chestnut-brown and horny in texture. This species is distributed in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean off the coasts of Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Tanzania, and Transkei. It can also be found in the Central Indo-Pacific Ocean, and in the west Pacific Ocean off the coasts of Papua New Guinea and Australia.
