Poirieria zelandica is a species with shells that grow to between 35 and 65 millimetres (1.4 to 2.6 inches) in size. These shells have a roughly fusiform shape, and bear long, straight spines. The aperture of the shell is large and ovate, and the outer lip is thin. This species occurs in Tasmania and New Zealand.
