About Poicephalus rueppellii (G.R.Gray, 1849)

Rüppell's parrot, with the scientific name Poicephalus rueppellii (G.R.Gray, 1849), measures 22–25 cm (9 inches) in length and weighs 121–156 g. Its body has an overall dark brown coloration, and its head is dark greyish. Both adult males and adult females have yellow feathers along the leading edge of the wings, as well as yellow feathers covering their upper legs. For immature Rüppell's parrots, this yellow marking is duller or absent entirely. The species is sexually dimorphic: adult females have blue feathers on the lower back and rump, while males lose this blue feather coloration as they reach maturity.
