Pogogyne zizyphoroides Benth. is an aromatic annual herb that grows upright. It has a sturdy stem, which is topped with either a rounded, head-shaped inflorescence or an interrupted series of two or more flower clusters. Additional flowers may grow out from the leaf axils. The flowers are tubular with lipped petals, are less than one centimeter long, and are purple in color, sometimes with white markings in the flower throat. Each individual flower is surrounded by long, hairy green sepals.
