About Poecile cinctus (Boddaert, 1783)

The grey-headed chickadee, also known as the Siberian tit, has the scientific name Poecile cinctus. It is a passerine bird that belongs to the tit family Paridae. This species is a widespread resident breeder across subarctic Scandinavia, the northern Palearctic, and also extends into North America in Alaska and the far northwest of Canada. It is a specialist of conifer habitats, stays in its range year-round, and most individuals do not migrate. It is a fairly large tit species, measuring 12.5–14 cm in length and weighing 11–14.3 g. Its size falls intermediate between the willow tit and the great tit. The bird has a dark brown head, darkest on the throat and eyestripe, with a slightly paler crown, paired with white cheeks. Its mantle is cinnamon-brown, its wing feathers are blackish with pale fringes, and its underparts are whitish with pale rusty-brown flanks.
