About Podarcis peloponnesiacus (Bibron & Bory, 1833)
The Peloponnese wall lizard, scientifically named Podarcis peloponnesiacus (Bibron & Bory, 1833), reaches a snout-to-vent length of approximately 8.5 cm (3.3 in), with a tail that is roughly twice the length of its body. Males are generally larger than females on average. This is a robust lizard species, and adult males have especially large heads. Its colouring is quite variable, but the base colour is typically an olive-brown or greyish-brown shade, with a pale stripe running along the spine and more distinct pale stripes along the dorsolateral area. The mottled flanks often have one or more blue spots above the shoulder, and the blue colour can extend along the flanks in males. The underparts are red, orange, or white, and have no spots. Juveniles of this species often have blue tails.
