About Podalonia tydei (Le Guillou, 1841)

Podalonia tydei (Le Guillou, 1841), commonly called Tyde's sand wasp, is a species of sand wasp and thread-waisted wasp that belongs to the family Sphecidae. This species has a distribution across Australia, southern Europe, Asia, North Africa, and New Zealand. It is most often found in areas with exposed sand, particularly coastal dunes. Adult Podalonia tydei are active during the daytime in periods of strong sunlight, and are not visible when conditions become overcast. One subspecies, P. t. suspiciosa, is found only in Australia and New Zealand.
