Colonies of Pocillopora meandrina can be either fairly solid and dome-shaped, or branching. Their surfaces may feature flattened, ridge-like areas, or fine, convoluted areas. All colonies are covered in wart-like growths called verrucae. This species varies in color from brown to pink. Its polyps, with their extended tentacles, can usually only be seen at night. Pocillopora meandrina is found in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It lives across a range of habitats, including exposed reefs, protected lagoons, and lower reef slopes.
