About Ploceus manyar (Horsfield, 1821)

The streaked weaver, with the scientific name Ploceus manyar, is a species of weaver bird. Its native range covers South Asia and Southeast Asia, including the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. It has also been introduced to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This species is less common than the baya weaver. It looks similar to the baya weaver, but can be distinguished by its streaked underparts. Streaked weavers build their nests in small colonies, often located in reed beds near bodies of water.
