The southern gray-cheeked salamander, scientifically named Plethodon metcalfi Brimley, 1912, is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. This species is endemic to the border junction of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia in the southeastern United States. Its known altitudinal range in the region's mountains spans from 256 to 1,295 meters. Where the ranges of this species overlap with those of P. jordani and P. teyahalee, it forms hybrids with both. Its natural habitat is temperate forests.
