The Larch Mountain salamander (Plethodon larselli Burns, 1954) is a small, terrestrial salamander. This species is defined by a variable dorsal stripe, which is usually orange, light brown, or yellow and often blotchy. Its base body color is brown, with light speckling present in some areas. It can be easily told apart from other western Plethodon species by its reddish-salmon colored belly. Most adults are just under 2 inches in snout-to-vent length, and the species typically has 15 costal grooves.
