About Plethodon electromorphus Highton, 1999

Plethodon electromorphus, commonly called the northern ravine salamander, is a small terrestrial salamander. Adults measure 7.5–11.5 cm (3.0–4.5 in) in total length. It has an elongated, slender body with short legs. Its base color ranges from brown to nearly black, and is covered in tiny silvery white, bronzy or brassy specks. It has very small, irregular white blotches along its lower sides. Its belly is almost uniformly dark, while its chin is lightly mottled. This species has been recorded in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and rocky areas.
