Platanthera brevifolia (Greene) Senghas plants grow 16 to 60 centimeters tall. Their leaves grow close to the stem and sheath it. This species flowers from July to September, producing up to 40 green to yellowish-green flowers. The flower lip can reach 10 millimeters in length, and the species has a long nectar spur that measures 9 to 20 millimeters long. It is distributed in New Mexico, United States, and Mexico, growing at elevations between 2100 and 2750 meters. Its habitat includes dry to moist gravel, loam, and limestone, and it prefers open, usually coniferous forest.
