The shell of Planaxis sulcatus (Born, 1778) varies in size between 13 mm and 35 mm. This is a marine species. Its distribution includes the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean off Mozambique, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania, Mauritius, Chagos, Aldabra, and the Mascarene Basin, as well as the Pakistani coast, specifically Sonmiani Bay (Miani hor). The trematode Lobatostoma manteri is a known parasite of Planaxis sulcatus.
