About Plagiognathus arbustorum (Fabricius, 1794)

Adults of the bug species Plagiognathus arbustorum reach a body length of 3.6–4.5 millimetres (0.14–0.18 inches). These small mirid bugs have quite variable coloration, ranging from almost black to pale olive-green. Usually, the head, pronotum, first and second antennal segments, and the margins of the hind femora are entirely dark. Dark hairs cover the pronotum and forewings. The nymphs of this species are green, with a black pattern on their legs. This very common species occurs in the Nearctic realm, across most of Europe, and extends eastward to Siberia and Central Asia. Its habitat includes high-altitude herbaceous areas, ruderal sites, and even salt spots. In the Alps, it can be found at elevations over 2000 meters above sea level.
