About Pityopsis aspera (A.Gray) Small

Pityopsis aspera (A.Gray) Small grows between 20 and 50 cm (8 to 20 inches) tall, and typically has a single erect stem. Its leaves are linear-oblanceolate, ranging from 5 to 25 cm (2 to 10 inches) in length. It blooms from August to October, and its flowers have 6 to 10 yellow petals. This species is native to the United States, where its natural range extends from Virginia south to Florida, and west to Mississippi. It grows in a variety of habitats including dry woodlands, forests, longleaf pine sandhills, and disturbed areas.
