About Pittosporum cornifolium A.Cunn. ex Hook.
Pittosporum cornifolium A.Cunn. ex Hook. is an attractive hanging plant or shrub that reaches 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches) in height. It has shiny dark green leaves, arranged in broad verticils or whorls. Reddish buds develop above the verticils, and these buds produce fragrant yellow flowers, usually in late winter. When its fruit opens, black seeds are visible; these are set against the orange pith that covers the inner surface of the fruit capsule, which attracts birds. Wild naturally occurring individuals grow alongside other epiphytes, most often in the canopies of large pūriri and rātā trees, and occasionally grow in rock crevices.
