About Pistius truncatus (Pallas, 1772)

Pistius truncatus is a spider species with distinct size differences between sexes: males reach a body length of approximately 4–5 millimetres (0.16–0.20 inches), while females grow to 8–9 millimetres (0.31–0.35 inches). This spider has small eyes, and females have a noticeably widened abdomen. Adult individuals of this species can be found from May to June. This species has a Palaearctic distribution, and is widespread across central and western Europe. It inhabits bushy areas, primarily small scrubby oaks and forest edges.
