Japanese house bat, with the scientific name Pipistrellus abramus (Temminck, 1838), is also commonly called the Japanese pipistrelle. It is classified as a species of vesper bat. An adult individual of this species has a body length ranging from 3.6 to 4.8 cm (1.4 to 1.9 inches), a tail length ranging from 2.9 to 4.0 cm (1.1 to 1.6 inches), and a wing length ranging from 3.2 to 3.6 cm (1.3 to 1.4 inches). This bat prefers to roost under ceilings or inside the roofs of old buildings. It is distributed across East Asia, ranging from China and Taiwan to the Ussuri region, the Korean Peninsula, and Japan. Within China, this species can be found in Hainan province, Hainan Island, and the Zhoushan archipelago. For reproduction, developing young go through 33 distinct embryonic stages before birth.
