About Pinus parviflora Siebold & Zucc.

Pinus parviflora Siebold & Zucc. is a coniferous evergreen tree. It typically reaches 15–25 m in height, though it can rarely grow as tall as 30 m, and forms a wide, dense, conical crown. Its leaves are needle-like, arranged in bundles of five, and measure 3–7 cm long. This species produces cones that are 4–8 cm long, with broad, rounded scales. Its seeds are 7–10 mm long, with a vestigial wing that measures 3–10 mm. Pinus parviflora is a popular tree for bonsai cultivation, and it is also grown as an ornamental tree in parks and gardens. Two of its cultivars, 'Adcock's Dwarf' and 'Bonnie Bergman', have received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
