About Picus vittatus Vieillot, 1818

The laced woodpecker, scientifically named Picus vittatus Vieillot, 1818, is a bird species belonging to the woodpecker family Picidae. This species occurs across Southeast Asia, and has been confirmed present in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The only past record of this species from Bangladesh came from a single specimen, which has since been reidentified as a streak-breasted woodpecker instead. The natural habitats of the laced woodpecker include subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical mangrove forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
