The streak-breasted woodpecker, with the scientific name Picus viridanus (first described by Blyth in 1843), is a bird species that belongs to the woodpecker family Picidae. This species occurs across a range starting from far southeastern Bangladesh and extending to the central Malay Peninsula. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, as well as subtropical or tropical mangrove forest.
