Phytomyza horticola Goureau, 1851 is a leaf-mining fly species belonging to the family Agromyzidae in the order Diptera. For a period, it was classified under the name Chromatomyia horticola. This original name has been restored after the genus Chromatomyia was synonymized with Phytomyza. This species is an economically important pest that damages vegetable crops in both temperate and tropical regions. Phytomyza horticola has been recorded feeding on hosts from around 268 genera across 36 plant families, most commonly Brassicaceae, Fabaceae, and Asteraceae. This polyphagous pest is distributed across multiple regions of Africa, Asia, and Europe.
