This species, Phytocoris varipes, ranges in color from pinkish-brown to red-brown, and has longitudinal markings on its upper surface. Its distribution covers most of Europe, though it is mainly absent from Andorra, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Cyprus, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Madeira, Malta, Poland, and the central and southern parts of Russia. Its range extends eastward to the Caucasus and Iran. It also occurs as an adventive species in Oregon, USA.
