Phyteuma scheuchzeri All. can grow 300–450 millimetres (12–18 inches) in height. This plant forms tufts of narrow, light bluish green leaves, and produces tall stems that bear small, head-shaped inflorescences made up of deep-blue flowers. Its bracts are lanceolate to linear, and longer than the flower clusters. This species is distributed in the Southern Alps, the Northern Apennines, Great Britain, Switzerland, France, Italy, and former Yugoslavia. It grows mostly in crevices on limestone and silicate rocks, at altitudes up to 3600 meters.
