Physconia muscigena (Ach.) Poelt is a species of lichen that belongs to the family Physciaceae. It has a foliose growth form, with lobes that are typically ascending and concave at their tips. The upper cortex of this lichen ranges in color from grey-brown to brown, and is often mostly or completely pruinose, meaning it is covered in calcium oxalate crystals called pruina. In terms of its ecology, Physconia muscigena commonly grows on mosses, small plants like Selaginella, or detritus that sits on top of soil or rock. It has a cosmopolitan distribution, and can be found on all continents, including Antarctica.
