About Physcomitrium pyriforme (Hedw.) Brid.
Physcomitrium pyriforme, commonly called common bladder-moss, is a bryophyte. It is native to every continent except South America and Antarctica. Its capsules start maturing in late fall and continue maturing through the spring. This species most often grows on wet soils in disturbed locations. It is a highly variable species; size, leaf characteristics, and capsule shape vary across its distribution range, and frequently also vary within individual populations.
