About Physaria chambersii Rollins
Physaria chambersii is a species of flowering plant in the mustard family Brassicaceae, commonly called Chambers' twinpod. It is native to the southwestern United States, where it grows in desert woodland and plateau habitats. This perennial herb grows from a taproot and forms a clumpy rosette of stems that reach up to 15 centimeters long; stems grow erect and fall over once the plant produces fruit. The entire plant is covered in a silver-white coat of hairs. The leaves in the rosette are rounded to oval, measuring up to 6 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide. Smaller, spoon-shaped leaves grow along the stems. Its inflorescence is a raceme bearing golden yellow flowers each with four petals. The fruit is an inflated pod that may be over one centimeter long. The pod is notched and divided into two chambers, each of which holds 4 seeds.
