About Phylus coryli (Linnaeus, 1758)

Phylus coryli, commonly called the hazel plant bug, is a species of plant bug in the family Miridae and subfamily Mirinae. This species is widespread across Europe, including the British Isles, though it is absent from some areas of the southern Mediterranean. To the east, it can be found in the Caucasus, and it has been introduced to North America. Phylus coryli feeds on Corylus avellana. Adults of this species measure 4.5 to 5.5 millimetres (0.18 to 0.22 inches) in length. Their body colour ranges from light brown to black, and their cuneus is reddish.
