About Phylomictis maligna Meyrick, 1890
Phylomictis maligna is a species of moth that belongs to the Depressariidae family. It was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1890. This moth is found in Australia, and all confirmed records of the species come from Victoria. The wingspan of Phylomictis maligna measures around 23 millimeters. Its forewings are white with a faint ochreous tint. A thick, irregular dark grey streak runs along the inner margin of the forewings, extending from the base to the anal angle. An irregular, heavily interrupted dark fuscous transverse line stretches from one-third of the way along the costa to the dorsal streak, beyond the middle of the wing. A single dark fuscous dot sits in the disc of the wing at the two-thirds mark. The entire apical two-fifths of the forewing is fuscous, speckled with darker fuscous scales, and features a curved subterminal and hindmarginal series of faint, indistinct whitish marks. The hindwings of Phylomictis maligna are fuscous, growing darker closer to the hindmargin.
