About Phyllonorycter nicellii (Stainton, 1851)
Phyllonorycter nicellii (Stainton, 1851) has a wingspan of 7 to 8 mm. Its forewings are a shining golden-ochreous colour, and are sometimes suffused with brown. The base of the forewings is pale. It has a fascia at one quarter length, another fascia in the middle, three posterior costal wedge-shaped spots and two dorsal wedge-shaped spots. These markings are shining whitish with blackish margins on their anterior sides, and the first pair of spots is often connected. There is also an oval blackish apical spot. The hindwings of this moth are grey. It is very similar in appearance to Phyllonorycter froelichiella.
