About Phyllonorycter issikii (Kumata, 1963)
Phyllonorycter issikii, commonly known as the lime leaf miner, is a moth species that belongs to the family Gracillariidae. It is native to Japan, Korea, and eastern Russia. It was likely introduced to eastern Europe around 1970. Currently, it is widespread across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and it is actively expanding its range into Hungary and Germany. It has also been recorded in the Baltic states, and was first documented in the Benelux region in 2009. This moth has a wingspan of 7 to 7.5 mm. Adults emerge in two generations per year: the first generation flies from the end of June to mid-July, and the second from the end of July to the end of August. The larvae feed on three species of Tilia: Tilia americana, Tilia cordata, and Tilia platyphyllos, and they create mines inside the leaves of their host plants.
