Phyllonorycter esperella is a moth species that belongs to the family Gracillariidae. This moth can be found in the geographic region extending from Sweden in the north, south to the Pyrenees, Italy, and Greece, and west to east from Great Britain to Ukraine. The wingspan of adult Phyllonorycter esperella ranges from 7 to 9 millimeters. In western Europe, adults are active in May and August, producing two generations per year. The larvae of this moth feed on two plant species: Carpinus betulus and Ostrya carpinifolia, and they create mines inside the leaves of their host plants.
