This section describes the physical characteristics of Phyllomedusa vaillantii Boulenger, 1882. Adult male frogs of this species have a snout-vent length ranging from 50.2 mm (1.98 in) to 57.5 mm (2.26 in), while adult female frogs measure 68.8 mm (2.71 in) to 81.2 mm (3.20 in) in snout-vent length. Males and females exhibit notable sexual dimorphism in the shape of the snout. The dorsal skin is primarily green, with reddish-brown coloration on the flanks marked by whitish or orange spots. The inner parts of the hind legs can be red, lavender, or orange. The ventrum is light orange.
