About Phyllolithodes papillosus Brandt, 1848

Phyllolithodes is a monospecific genus of king crab that belongs to the family Lithodidae. Its only recognized species is Phyllolithodes papillosus, which is commonly nicknamed the flatspine triangle crab. This species inhabits both the intertidal zone and the subtidal zone. Its range extends from Unalaska in the Aleutian Islands in the north to San Miguel Island in Southern California in the south. Phyllolithodes is thought to likely be the sister genus of Rhinolithodes.
