About Phyllodesmium serratum (Baba, 1949)
Phyllodesmium serratum is a species of sea slug that typically reaches 10 to 25 mm in body length, and can grow up to 40 mm long. This species does not host any zooxanthellae. Its confirmed distribution includes Australia and Japan. Some authors have incorrectly treated this species as a synonym of Phyllodesmium horridum, and it is not actually found in Africa. In its ecosystem, Phyllodesmium serratum feeds on multiple genera of soft corals: Cornularia sp., Clavularia sp., Carijoa sp., and Steronephthya sp.
