About Phyllocnistis vitegenella Clemens, 1859

Phyllocnistis vitegenella is a moth species that belongs to the family Gracillariidae. This species is originally native to North America, but it has been recorded in new locations over time: it was first documented in northern Italy in 1994, in Slovenia in 2004, and in Switzerland in 2009. The larvae of Phyllocnistis vitegenella feed on Vitis species that are native to North America, and the moth has become a pest of cultivated Vitis vinifera grapevines. Larvae create mines within the leaves of their host plants.
