Phyllidiopsis fissurata Brunckhorst, 1993 typically measures around 5 to 8 centimeters in length. Its dorsal body surface has a black base color covered in numerous tall, pink tubercles. The rhinophores are pink with black tips; a black line runs along their posterior edge, and a raised semitransparent film surrounds each rhinophore. The anal area consists of a smooth, tall, raised pink papilla. This species has been recorded at the Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, and Lord Howe Island, and it is occasionally found in Hawaii. It is distributed across the central and western Pacific.
