About Phyllidia marindica (Yonow & Hayward, 1991)

This species of nudibranch has a black dorsal surface, broken up by large tubercles that each have a yellow cap. Each of these tubercles is surrounded by a pale blue ring; these blue rings connect to one another between adjacent tubercles along the midline of the dorsum. Closer to the edge of the mantle, the blue areas merge together. At the mantle edge, the tubercles become smaller and more numerous, and no longer have yellow caps. The rhinophores of this nudibranch are yellow. Phyllidia marindica is a common species that was first described based on specimens from Mauritius. It has been recorded in coastal areas ranging from South Africa to Thailand, including north-west Australia.
