About Phrynosoma braconnieri Bocourt, 1870
Phrynosoma braconnieri (Bocourt, 1870), commonly called the short-tailed horned lizard, has a very short tail relative to its body length; this tail is the shortest of any horned lizard, and even the shortest of any lizard, which is the origin of its common name. This species lives in pine-oak woodland and xeric thorn-scrub habitats, and can also occur in corn fields and other traditional agricultural areas. The short-tailed horned lizard is native to the Mexican states of Puebla and Oaxaca, and may also be present in Veracruz. It is a viviparous species. Its mating season starts in early fall, and offspring are born the following early spring.
