About Photinus signaticollis (Blanchard, 1846)
Photinus signaticollis is a firefly species originally native to Argentina and Uruguay. In 2018, populations of this firefly were observed in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula. At the time of this observation, the Iberian Peninsula population was incorrectly classified as a new species, named Photinus immigrans. In 2022, researchers confirmed that this Iberian Peninsula population actually belongs to the already described species Photinus signaticollis.
