This is a description of Phoracantha recurva Newman, 1840, a medium-sized beetle. It has a complex pattern of cream and brown markings. It is closely related to Phoracantha semipunctata and looks similar, but can be distinguished by its smaller overall size and fewer dark markings. Unlike P. semipunctata, the base of its elytra is mostly pale, with only a small number of separate dark spots, rather than a series of dark markings placed close together.
