About Phlox drummondii Hook.
Phlox drummondii Hook. is an annual plant that grows from seed each year. Its branches bear sharp, pointed, elongated ciliated leaves, and produce rounded flower clusters. The flowers can be single or double, with lightly scented, flat, star-shaped petals. Mature flowers reach 2.5 cm (1 in) in diameter. This species tolerates cold weather well, but requires abundant watering, and is intolerant of drought, wind, and heat. The plant attracts hummingbirds and butterflies; its main pollinator, Battus philenor, is responsible for approximately 80% of all pollinator visits to the plant.
