About Phlogophora periculosa Guenée, 1852
Phlogophora periculosa, commonly known as the brown angle shades, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species is distributed across northern United States and southern Canada, ranging from coast to coast. In the eastern part of its range, it extends south to Georgia and Mississippi. In the western part of its range, it extends south to California. It is not found in Florida or the south-central United States. The wingspan of adult Phlogophora periculosa measures between 42 and 50 mm. Adults are active in flight from late July through October. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves of a variety of woody plants, including alder, balsam fir, cranberry, and plum.
